These tasty Bread Bhajiyas, made with a spicy batter of besan, crumbled bread, onions, green chillies, etc., is superb for Evening Tea Snacks, especially on wet monsoon days. To attain perfectly crunchy bhajiyas, deep-fry as soon as the mix is ready, to prevent it from becoming watery.

Ingredients

5 bread slices
1/2 cup fresh thick curds (dahi)
3/4 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
1 tsp green chilli paste
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
salt to taste
oil for deep-frying

For Serving
tomato ketchup

Method
  1. Remove the crust from all the bread slices.
  2. Tear the bread into very small pieces, add into a deep bowl along with all the remaining ingredients and ΒΌ cup of water and mix well till smooth.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick kadhai and drop spoonfuls of the mixture in hot oil using your fingers and deep-fry, a few at a time, on a medium flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  4. Serve immediately with tomato ketchup.
