An appealing and tempting snack or side dish recipe, Yummy Basket are basically maida baskets which are filled with a spicy vegetable based filling.

for baskets:
1/2 cup plain flour (maida)
1/2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp baking powder
salt to taste

for filling:
1/2 cup shredded red cabbage
1/4 cup green peas
1/4 cup chopped yellow capsicum
1 tbsp small sized paneer (cottagte cheese) cubes
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp sugar
salt to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper (kalimirch) powder
1/4 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
1/4 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)

For decoration:
2 spring onions
1/2 carrot
12 cherries

  1. Make a hard dough of flour, oil, baking powder and salt.
  2. Divide into 5 parts.
  3. Roll out 1/4 inch thick and put into tart shells.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400 degree f and bake it for 10 min or till done.
  5. Let it cool.


  1. Heat a little oil in a kadhai.
  2. Add cumin seeds.
  3. Add cabbages, and peas(if using fresh. add all the spices except garam masala.
  4. Cover it and let it cook for 5 mins under slow flame.
  5. Add capsicums and saute for few minutes.
  6. Finally add paneer cubes. garam masala, and lemon juice.

To serve:

    To serve:
  1. Take baskets and put fillings inside.
  2. Take a strand of scallion and using a small broken toothpick carefully attach it at one end if the basket.
  3. Repeat the same for another end to give it a shape of basket''''s handle.
  4. Scrape the carrots and make a bow with it. pin it up using toothpick at the middle of the handle.
  5. Cut the cherries into halves. prick tooth picks in each halves and fix it into the baskets.
  6. Serve immediately.
