A playful recipe made with rice and jaggery and served as a snack or a starter. Serve warm with a dollop of butter.

Method

For the white marbles

    For the white marbles
  1. Boil ½ cup of water in a heavy bottomed vessel along with salt .
  2. Then add the rice flour and 1 tbsp of oil. stir evenly to mix well.
  3. Remove it from the the heat and set aside to cool for a while.
  4. If necessary, sprinkle some water and knead into a soft dough. then, form marble sized balls of the mixture.
  5. Steam these marbles in the cooker for 10 mts.
  6. Heat up the remaining oil in a pan and fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, chilly, curry leaves and asafoetida and sauté on a low flame for a few seconds.
  7. Add the cooked balls and grated coconut and stir fry over a low flame for a couple of minutes. keep aside.

For the yellow marbles

  1. Melt the jaggery in 2 tbsp water in a pan and add the rice flour. stir evenly to mix well.
  2. Remove it from the the heat and set aside to cool for a while.
  3. If necessary, sprinkle some water and knead into a soft dough. then, form marble sized balls of the mixture.
  4. Steam these marbles in the cooker for 10 mts.

  8. 1. combine both the white and yellow cooked marble in a plate and serve with a dollop of butter.
