A steamed vegetable cake recipe, veggie squares bring an unique and healthy breakfast or snack recipe. The semolina or rawa are mixed with vegetables, beaten cud and then steamed in a steamer, just like idlis. Serve the soft, spongy and nutritious vegge squares with ketchup or green chutney.

1 cup fine semolina (rava)
1 cup curds (dahi)
1/2 cup shredded vegetables (carrot, cabbage, capsicum)
salt to taste
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania) leaves
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)

  1. Beat the curd nicely so that there are no lumps.
  2. Add in the rava and vegetables and mix well.
  3. Add in the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  4. Set aside for half an hour.
  5. Grease idli plates with some oil and keep them to steam for 5 minutes in the cooker.
  6. Pour the batter in the idli plates and steam again for 15 minutes...
  7. Cut into squares
  8. Serve hot with ketchup or green chutney
