A simple and quick recipe to prepare the Tea cake with flour, sugar, eggs and milk. The tea cakes are freshly baked and then enjoyed hot with tea or coffee. Add a caramel sauce or cream as topping and you have a lovely tea cake dessert recipe.

1/2 kg (500 gms) plain flour (maida)
1/2 kg (500 grams) butter
1/2 kg (500 gms) sugar
15 big or 20 small eggs
2 tsp levelled, baking powder (should be mixed into the Maida & kept ready.)
1/2 botlle of lemon essence
a pinch of salt if butter is unsalted

  1. Churn butter first till light & fluffy.
  2. Add sugar & continue to churn for 1 hour.,
  3. Add beaten eggs & continue to churn,
  4. Add the maida that has the baking powder mixed - & continue to churn (mix well) for another ½ an hr. to avoid lumps.,
  5. Add essence, mix well & pour into greased trays & bake.
