1/4 kg ripe tomatoes
1/4 kg onions
100 gms ginger (adrak)
100 gms garlic (lehsun)
chilli powder according to taste
jaggery (gur) - lemon size
tamarind (imli) - lermon size
1/2 tsp fenugreek (methi) seeds
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
oil for frying

  1. Grind all the ingredients in a grinder,without adding water.
  2. Take a pan,add around 3 tbsps of oil.after is it hot,add mustard seeds,methi seeds,heeng powder and turmeric powder.also add the tamarind juice.
  3. Then keep frying it till the moisture is fully absorbed.finally add the jaggery and voila the chutney is ready to serve.
