A lovely blend of semolina with sour buttermilk in the Sour Upma recipe makes it a preferred breakfast item. Splutter the mustard seeds and add hing and green chillies to the Upma to impart a spicy touch to the otherwise sour taste.

Method


  1. Mix buttermilk with semolina and salt.
  2. Heat oil(preferably sesame oil) in a kadai. when hot add mustard seeds.
  3. When they splutter, add urad dal, chana dal, pinched red chillies, hing, curryleaves.
  4. Now pour the buttermilk mixture and keep strirring till thick and leaves the sides of the kadai.
  5. Serve hot.
