An excellent nutrient dense sweet snacking option for children, Shankerpali is prepared from a dough comprising of wheat flour, maida and sugar syrup.

Ingredients

6 tbsp whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
4 tbsp plain flour (maida)
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp butter
oil to deep fry
salt to taste
Method


  1. Mix the above ingredients, except oil, with a little water and knead into a soft dough.
  2. Divide into five to six equal balls and roll out each ball into a flat chapati.
  3. Cut into diamond-shaped pieces with a pastry cutter or knife.
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and deep fry these shankerpalis over medium heat till light brown and crisp.
  5. When cool, store in an air tight container.
