In most households, a complete meal is served in the afternoon, while light rice dishes like Khichdi are preferred for dinner. Fada Ni Khichdi , Bajra Khichdi and Moong Dal Khichdi are all-time favourites, which are enjoyed with a Gujarati Kadhi or simple a cup of curds and some pickles.

This section also looks at rice dishes like Lilva Rice, Ek Toap Na Dal Bhaat, Gujarati Masala Bhaat that are easy and simple to make, and prepared often to make use of leftover rice.

Green field beans, long-grained rice and fresh green herbs, cooked in an earthen pot… the experience is truly heavenly! lilva or fresh vaal is available only during a season that lasts three to four months, so make the most of Lilva Rice while it lasts.
