What is fatty liver?

Fatty liver in simple terms is excess deposition of fat in the liver. Some amount of fat is present in liver. But it’s the overload which poses a problem and hinders the functioning of liver. What is Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease?

As mentioned earlier, the liver usually breaks and filters the excess alcohol from the body. But in the process of breaking down the alcohol it produces harmful substances which damage the liver cells. The lives generally repairs its old damaged cells with new ones. However constant intake of alcohol causes inflammation of the liver. This is reversible if dietary and lifestyle modifications are introduced at the right time. If not treated, it can lead to Alcoholic Hepatitis and Cirrhosis, which can be life threatening too.

What is Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)?

Tarla Dalal    Dear Melanie You should consult a dietitian for a customised meal plan that suits your body, health condition and palate. You should have low fat, low fiber, controlled carb diet to take care of NASH, Diabetes and Gastroparesis. Have small meals, but they should be in accordance with your medicines especially you take to keep diabetes under control. However here are a few recipes that you can try. https://www.tarladalal.com/Apple-Stew-for-Babies-40469r https://www.tarladalal.com/Fluffy-Egg-White-Masala-Omelette-38954r (avoid mushrooms and tomatoes in this recipe. use minimum spices. also restrict to 1 omlette) https://www.tarladalal.com/Muskmelon-Pear-and-Apple-Salad-4642r (only use peeled fruits and consume a small portion at a time)
