This recipe shows you how to make a tangy variant of hummus that combines chick peas with sun-dried tomatoes, curds and other flavour enhancing ingredients.

For The Falafel Sticks
3 pita bread (7”) each
oil for deep-frying

For The Sun Dried Hummus
1 cup soaked and boiled chick peas (kabuli chana)
1/2 cup curds (dahi)
1/2 cup soaked and finely chopped sun dried tomatoes
2 tsp roughly chopped garlic (lehsun)
2 tsp olive oil
salt to taste


For the pita sticks

  1. Cut each pita into 8 equal sized strips.
  2. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan and deep-fry a few pita strips at a time till they turn golden brown in color from all the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.

For the sun dried hummus

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a mixer along with ¼ cup of water in a mixer and blend till smooth. Keep aside.

How to serve

  1. Serve the sun dried hummus with pita strips and serve immediately.
