Traditionally, frappé refers to a foam-covered coffee drink, but here we have used this frothy format to make a caffeine-free, fruity drink!

The Papaya and Apple Frappe is a refreshing chilled drink with the tangy flavour of curds, the natural sweetness of honey, the satiating texture of fruits and the melt-in-the-mouth sensation of foam.

Note that this fibre-rich drink is not strained, which adds to its unique mouth-feel, and is sweetened mildly with honey, which is essential to balance the taste. Serve it immediately before the froth subsides.

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     3Makes 3 glasses

1 1/2 cups chilled papaya cubes
1/2 cup chilled apple cubes
1/4 cup low-fat curds (dahi)
a pinch of nutmeg (jaiphal) powder
1/2 tsp honey
7 ice-cubes
  1. Combine all the ingredients and 1 cup of chilled water in a mixer and blend till smooth and frothy.
  2. Pour the frappé into 3 individual glasses and serve immediately.

A thoughtful combination of fruits to make a healthy drink which is heart friendly. I tried this drink without adding honey at the first try, but adding that 1 tsp of honey in the end really perked up the flavour of this drink. It is refreshing when consumed at any time of the day.

Nice thick papaya smoothie with the subtle flavor of nutmeg and the sweetness of honey. Curds add the nice bit of sourness to the drink.
