Lauki ka Halwa recipe - How to make Lauki ka Halwa

500 gms bottle gourd (doodhi / lauki) , peeled and grated
2 cups milk
1 cup mava (khoya)
1 cup sugar
5 tbsp ghee
15 cashewnuts (kaju)
1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
2 tsp rose water
  1. Heat 3 tbls ghee in a pan, add the cashewnuts and fry till golden brown. Remove and keep aside.
  2. Add the bottle gourd to the same pan and saute on medium flame for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the hot milk and keep stirring till it reduces and become thick.
  4. Add the sugar, mix well and cook ,till it reduces.
  5. Add the khoya ,2 tbsp ghee ,cashews and cardamom powder and mix well.
  6. When the halwa is cooked and becomes thick, add the rose water and mix well.
  7. Serve hot.
