The lasagna in tomato gravy is a delectable layered lasagna recipe with lasagna sheets made from plain flour and layered with vegetables. The lasagna is simmered in a tangy tomato gravy. Bake the lasagna with sprinkled cheese as topping .

Ingredients


For lasagna sheets
2 cups plain flour (maida)
2 tbsp oil or butter
1 tbsp water
oil

For veg. layer
1 cup grated processed cheese
1/2 cup grated carrot
1/2 cup finely shredded cabbage
2 onions, thinly sliced
1 capsicum, thinly sliced
1 tbsp butter
salt to taste

For gravy
3 large tomatoes
1 tsp crushed garlic (lehsun)
1/2 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
1 onion, grated
3 tbsp tomato puree
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg (jaiphal) powder
salt to taste
1 tbsp butter
Method



For lasagna

    For lasagna
  1. Mix fat in dough. knead into pliable dough with water.
  2. Keep aside for 30 minutes. ( long enough to prepare the gravy and vegetables)
  3. Divide into 4-5 parts. roll into very thin sheets with the help of some flour.
  4. Cut in 6"x4" rectangles. put plenty of water to boil. add 1 tbsp. oil.
  5. Put in some sheets at a time in the boiling water. remove after 30-40 seconds, drain.
  6. Repeat for all the dough.

For gravy:

    For gravy:
  1. Put tomatoes in boiling water for 5 minutes.
  2. Remove skins. grate.
  3. Heat butter, add garlic, stir.
  4. Add tomatoes and all other ingredients.
  5. Stir and cook till thick. keep aside.

For vegetables:

  1. Heat butter in heavy saucepan. add all vegetabbles.
  2. Stir fry till the vegetables are crisp.
  3. Add salt to taste, stir. keep aside.

For completing:

    For completing:
  1. In a greased overn proof casserole, place 2 -3 sheets to cover the bottom.
  2. Spread 1/2 the vegetables over lasagna sheets.
  3. Cover with layer of lasagna sheets.
  4. Pour some gravy on top. cover with more sheets.
  5. Repeat with vegetable, sheets, gravy.
  6. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  7. Bake in a hot oven at 300c for 10 minutes or till cheese becomes crisp.
