1 1/2 cups broken wheat (dalia)
1 onion , finely chopped
1 cup chopped mixed vegetables
1 tbsp parboiled green peas
2 green chillies , finely chopped
2 tsp chopped ginger (adrak)
3 garlic (lehsun) cloves , chopped

For The Tempering
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1 tsp chana dal (split bengal gram)

For The Garnish
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania) leaves
1 tsp freshly grated coconut
  1. Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, urad dal, bengal gram dal, green chillies, ginger and garlic and saute till the seeds crackle.
  2. Add the onions and saute till they turn pink.
  3. Add the vegetables and saute on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  4. Add 4 cups water and salt, mix well and bring to boil.
  5. Add the broken wheat and cook on a slow flame, while stirring continuously.
  6. Serve hot garnished with coriander and coconut.
