Cherry Liqueur is one of the most rewarding, whole-flavoured liqueurs you can make. There are many varieties of cherry liqueurs on the market; this recipe is a general simulation of many. It is excellent when sipped or in mixed drinks. A white spirit, a true fruit brandy distilled from cherries. The type of cherries used depended originally on where the distillate was made. Cherry liqueurs are among the easiest liqueurs to make at home, and it is also easy to obtain a flavor which is comparable with commercial cherry liqueurs. Homemade cherry liqueurs may be served with ice, and may also be used for making cocktails.
How to select
The colour of the cherry liqueur is ruby-red and the flavour is delicious. This recipe can also be used with sweet cherries, but the flavour will then be slightly different.
· Less expensive types of kirsch are used for culinary purposes e.g. for flaming pancakes, macerating fruits, fillings for pastries and cakes.
· Also as a filling in liqueur filled chocolates.
How to store
Store it in a cool dry place. Best store in a refrigerator.
· Top quality liqueurs are particularly appreciated as a digestive after a meal.
· Contains antioxidants (anthocyanin) hence good for heart and fights free radicals.
