This is a delicious sauce to serve with various dishes. It can also be added as a condiment to casserole dishes. Combine apricots and water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil over low heat. Cover and let soak for about 30 minutes. Return to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer, covered, until apricots are soft, about 20 minutes. Pour the apricots and the liquid into a blender or food processor.
How to Select
Choose the juicy and soft apricots to make puree. It is available under many brands in the Food mall. Before purchasing check the manufacturing as well as the expiry dates, to guarantee that the sauce is fresh. Also, make sure the bottle is sealed properly.
· Serve as a topping on custard and garnish with the nut from the seed chopped.
· It tastes great over warm waffle or pancakes or over chilled ice cream, sherbet, cakes, custard.
· It can also be spiced with different herbs (e.g. - ginger, cinnamon)
How to store
If made at home, Bottle in sterilized bottles and seal immediately; stored in a cool, dark place, this sauce should keep for 12 months. Keep an eye on the expiry date, if purchased from the market.
