A delicious faraali cake that can be eaten even when you are fasting during various days.

Faraali Mango Cake recipe - How to make Faraali Mango Cake

2 1/2 cups waterchestnut (shingoda) flour , roasted in ghee
1 tbsp flax seeds , soaked in 3 tbsp hot water
1/4 cup chopped pistachios
10 dates (khajur) , cut into thin slices
10 to 12 powdered cardamoms
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup cream
2 tbsp oil
1/4 cup whipped cream
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp mango essence
1/4 cup mango pulp
  1. Whisk the malai in a deep bowl using a hand blender.
  2. Add the soaked falxseeds and cardamom powder and again whisk well.
  3. Add 1/4 cup whipped cream and 2 tbsp oil and whisk again for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the brown sugar and 1/2 cup milk and whisk again till mixture becomes smooth.
  5. Add the water chestnut flour, baking soda and baking powder and mix well.
  6. Add the dates and pistachios and fold gently with spatula until evenly distributed.
  7. Scrape down all sides of the bowl with spatula.
  8. Sprinkle few chopped pistachios over the batter and pouer in a greased cake mould. Place rack in center of the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes
  9. Reduce the temperature to 300 and let bake for another 5-6 minutes.
  10. Serve warm.
