  1. In a deep pan, combine the tamarind water, tomatoes, garlic and turmeric powder, asafoetida, coriander leaves,salt and mix well and bring to boil on a slow flame.
  2. Heat the oil in a kadhai and add mustard seeds.
  3. When the seeds crackle, add the curry leaves, red chillies and saute for 20 seconds.
  4. Add this to the boiling rasam and bring to boil.
  5. Remove from the flame.
  6. Serve hot.
