I am just trying this recipe now.. The cookies are expanding in the oven.. how much distance should be kept between 2 cookies?

Tarla Dalal    Hi, You can cook the cookies in the cooker.. with little salt at the bottom of the cooker, place a stand and a tin over it. Place few cookies in the tin and close the lid without the whistle and cook for 25 to 30 minutes on a medium flame.

I tried this today. However, I used brown sugar in place of white sugar, and the outcome was fantastic! Thanks so much for this wonderful recipe! I have been an avid follower of Tarla ji’s Recipes. Luv her!

Hi, I tried this recipe, and it came out very well. It is very simple receipe. The only thing which I modified was the time of baking. As I do not have oven I baked it in microwave convection, so it took almost 30minutes to cook. Please suggest if the timers differ for oven and microwave convection.

I tried this recipe but my cookies didnt turned hard on baking. the base was very soft even after baking for 30 min. my dough was also very soft

Tarla Dalal    Hi Namrata, Step no. 2 that is combine the sugar and butter in a deep bowl and whisk well till the mixture turns smooth and no lumps remain is really important, which will help you make the perfect dough for the cookies. Also, cookie making is an art that will need a lot of practice and patience.

Hi , I tried this reciepe the taste was good but we thought the biscuits were not very soft . How long should I pre heat the oven . The ones in the inside ( I mean the last row) was getting burnt . Should I not keep the dough in the refrigerator? The dough was not very soft should I mix the dough with lot of Pressure like we do for roti’s?

Tarla Dalal    Hi Vidya, Since,it is a cookie recipe it won''t be crisp like biscuit. The cookies will have a crisp texture outside and crumbly from inside. Preheat the oven at 180 C (360 F) for a minimum of 10 minutes. To avoid the cookies from burning, turn the side of the tray after 10 minutes of baking. You can keep the dough in the refrigerator if you feel it is getting very soft. The absorption of milk depends upon the quality of the maida. The dough doesn''t need any pressure to knead.
