Makes 1 cup
- Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds.When the seeds crackle,add curry leaves and then the ginger-garlic paste. Saute for few seconds until the raw smell goes.
- Add about 1/2 cup water and then the dates. When the water boils, reduce the flame, cover and cook. After a few minutes, you can see that the dates are almost cooked.
- Now add salt, chilli powder and tamarind extract.Mix well and let the mixture thicken. Finally add asafoetida and mix.
- Dates pickle is ready. Once cooled, store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated.
