Pamper your sweet taste buds with the Coconut burfi prepared in a traditional and authentic way. The freshly grated coconut is cooked with milk, sugar and flavoured with elaichi powder before placing on a greased tray. Cut the coconut burfi in any desired shape and size and enjoy as snack or dessert after meals.

2 cups freshly grated coconut
1 cup milk
2 cups sugar
4 tbsp ghee
1 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
2 tbsp almond (badam) slivers
a few strands of saffron (kesar) strands

  1. Heat the milk till it begins to boil.
  2. Add the coconut. lower heat and cook until all the milk has boiled down.
  3. Now add the sugar and ghee.
  4. Now add the saffron and cardamom powder.
  5. Stir well and put into a greased thali or plate.
  6. Decorate with almonds.
  7. Cut into squares when cool.
