Chinese Idli recipe - How to make Chinese Idli

3 cups idli batter
salt to taste

For The Stuffing
1 tbsp shredded carrot
1 tbsp sliced french beans
1 tbsp shredded cabbage
1 tbsp sliced red capsicum
1 tbsp sliced capsicum
1 tbsp sliced yellow capsicum
1 tbsp sliced onions
1 tbsp sesame (til) oil
salt to taste
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp cornflour
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp red chilli sauce
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tbsp schezuan sauce
1 tbsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
1 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak)
1 cup boiled noodles
1 tsp noodles masala
pinch m.s.g

Other Ingredients
oil for greasing
schezuan sauce for serving
  1. Mix idli batter and salt and keep aside.

  1. Heat oil in kadhai and add ginger,garlic and saute till brown.
  2. Then add onion and saute till onion turns translucent.
  3. Then add all the remaining vegetables and saute till all the vegetables get partially cooked.
  4. Now in a bowl mix soya sauce,tomato sauce,chilly sauce,vinegar and cornflour and mix well.
  5. Add this solution to the vegetables in the kadhai and mix.
  6. Add boiled noodles and mix.
  7. Now add schezuan sauce, chilli powder, noodles masala, ajinomoto, salt and mix well.
  8. Cook for few seconds and off the flame.

How to proceed

  1. Grease the idli moulds and put water in the cooker and place the cooker plate.
  2. Heat the cooker closing the lid so that water in the cooker boils.
  3. Mean while put 2 tbsp of batter in the idli moulds and put 1 1/2 tbsp of the stuffing prepared.
  4. Steam the idlis in the cooker for 8-10 minutes.
  5. Unmould the idlis from the moulds and serve hot with schezuan sauce
