Chatpata Bread Dahi Vadas recipe - How to make Chatpata Bread Dahi Vadas

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 10 to 12 dahi wadas


For The Wadas
12 bread slices
1 cup hung curds (chakka dahi)
10 tbsp tamarind (imli) ki chutney
10 tsp green chutney
2 tsp chaat masala
2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp salt
100 gms bhakharwadi
100 gms sev
3 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
1 cup sprouted chana or moong (whole green gram)

For The Green Chutney
2 cups chopped coriander (dhania)
1 cup chopped mint leaves (phudina)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp sugar
100 gms peanuts
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
a pinch of chaat masala
2 slit green chillies
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
For The Green Chutney

  1. Blend all the ingredients together and make a smooth paste with thick dripping consistency.

For the wadas

  1. Heat a tawa, take some slices of bread and cook them on the tava until a little hard.
  2. Do not toast them and do not let them turn fully brown.
  3. Let the bread slices cool.
  4. Now soak each slice of bread in water and immediately remove from the water and squeeze the water out of each slice of bread.
  5. Spread the damp breads on a serving plate.
  6. Sprinkle the sprouts over each of the bread slices.
  7. With a spoon, beat the dahi a little until it becomes smooth.
  8. Add the dahi on top of each bread slice.
  9. Add the green chutney and the imli chutney.
  10. Sprinkle chaat masala, chilli powder and salt over each bread slice.
  11. Garnish with generous amounts of crushed bhakharwadis and sev/bhujia and coriader.
  12. Serve immediately.
