Bread has a knack of giving any snack a wonderful texture, which is both crisp and melt-in-the-mouth. This Bread Palak Pakora is an interesting experiment that harnesses this quality of bread.

Made with a dough of bread and palak strengthened with besan and flavoured with spices, these pakoras have an addictive flavour and amazing crispness.

They can be served with tea or as a starter at parties . It is sure to be enjoyed by everyone. Just make sure you serve it immediately before it loses its awesome crispness.

Bread Palak Pakora, Tea Time Snack recipe - How to make Bread Palak Pakora, Tea Time Snack

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 servings

2 cups fresh bread crumbs
2 cups finely chopped spinach (palak) , washed
1 1/2 cups besan (bengal gram flour)
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
1 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
oil for deep frying

For Serving
tomato ketchup
green chutney
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and knead into a soft sticky dough by adding water only if required.
  2. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan, drop spoonful of the mixture using your fingers and deep-fry a few pakoras at a time on a medium flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  3. Serve immediately with tomato ketchup and green chutney.

Is there any substitution for bengal gram flour for this recipe? Can we use rice flour instead of bengal gram flour?

These pakodas are just soo good in taste and texture, I really really enjoyed them with my afternoon tea with my friends over a high tea...
