A simple, mouthwatering, healthy and easy to prepare hot pot rice recipe, Vegetable Hong Kong with rice offers a complete meal in itself. Cooked in true Oriental cuisine style, the vegetable hongkong are placed over rice and cooked till done.

Vegetable Hong Kong with Rice recipe - How to make Vegetable Hong Kong with Rice

750 gms mixed vegetables (cauliflower,french beans,carrot and baby corn)
2 cups Steamed Rice
2 cups Vegetable Stock
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 capsicum, cut into large cubes
2 tbsp cornflour

4 tsp vinegar
2 tsp chilli sauce
2 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak)
1 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
4 whole dry kashmiri red chillies (broken into pieces)
1/4 tsp M.S.G
2 tbsp oil
a pinch of sugar
salt and black pepper (kalimirch) powder to taste


  1. Dice all the vegetables and parboil them. reserve the stock.
  2. Heat the oil in a wok or frying pan on high heat.
  3. Add the ginger, garlic and red chilies and stir fry for 2 minutes.
  4. Then add the parboil vegetables, capsicum and ajinomoto and stir fry over high heat for another 2 minutes.
  5. Add soya sauce, vinegar, chili sauce, salt and pepper.
  6. Mix the stock and cornflour, add to the mixture and cook for one minute.
  7. Add the sugar and stir well.
  8. Serve hot topped with steam rice.
