Veg Hot Dog recipe - How to make Veg Hot Dog



Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 servings


For Veggie Peti
3 potatoes , boiled and chopped
1/2 cup boiled mixed vegetables , mashed
1 tsp red chilli paste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tbsp coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
2 tsp garam masala
2 tbsp ghee
2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp green chili paste
salt to taste
3 bread slices , crumbled
1/2 cup chopped coriander (dhania)
oil for deep frying

For Rolling
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs

To Be Mixed Together For The Batter
1/2 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
salt to taste
1/2 tsp chilli powder
water as required

Other Ingredients
4 hotdog buns
4 tbsp butter
4 tbsp green chutney
4 cheese slices
2 tomatoes , cut into slices
2 cucumber , cut into slices
1 onion , cut into slices
mayonnaise as required
tomato ketchup as required
salt to taste
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper powder

For Serving

    For veggie peti
  1. Combine the potatoes, vegetables, chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder, garam masala, salt and fresh bread crumbs in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Heat the ghee in a small pan and add the cumin seeds.
  3. When the seeds crackle, add the green chili paste and saute for 20 seconds.
  4. Add this tempering to the potato mixture, add the coriander and mix well.
  5. Divide the mixture into round flat tikkis and keep aside.
  6. Heat the oil in a kadhai, dip the tikkis in the prepared batter and roll them on the bread crumbs so that they are evenly coated from all the side.
  7. Deep fry till they turn golden brown and crisp from all the sides.
  8. Drain on an absorbent paper and keep aside.

  1. Slit the hot dog bun from centre.
  2. Heat non stick tava, apply 1 tbsp butter and toast the bun from both the sides.
  3. Open the bun and apply 1 tbsp green chutney on one side.
  4. Cut the cheese slice in two parts and put it on bun.
  5. Arrange3-4 slices each of tomato,cucumber and onion.
  6. Sprinkle salt and a pinch of pepper.
  7. Put prepared veggie peti,press a little.
  8. Apply 1 tsp of mayyonaise on peti.
  9. Apply 1 tbsp tomato ketchup on another side of bun.
  10. Close the bun.
  11. Similarly prepare another buns.
  12. Serve with tomato ketchup and waffers.
