Veg Idli Upma recipe - How to make Veg Idli Upma

8 leftover idlis
1 cup mixed vegetables (onion,carrot,tomato,potato,sweet corn)
salt to taste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 tsp chilli powder
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
2 tbsp oil

To temper:
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/2 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1/2 tsp chana dal (split Bengal gram)
a few curry leaves (kadi patta)
1 whole dry kashmiri red chillies

  1. Crumble the idlis by hand.
  2. Cut the onion,carrot,tomato & potato into cubes.
  3. Heat the oil & temper the given ingredients.
  4. Saute all the vegetables till done.
  5. Add salt,haldi,hing & chilli powder & mix well.
  6. Finally add the crumbled idlis,cook for 2 mts,garnish
  7. Serve hot.
