  1. Melt butter, sugar and syrup together. stir in remaining cake ingredients.
  2. Turn into a greased and lined heart-shaped mould.
  3. Bake at 180 degrees c for 25-30 minutes until firm to the touch.
  4. Cool slightly before turning out.
  5. For the icing beat the ingredients together until smooth.
  6. Spread over the cake.
  7. To frost rose petals, carefully brush with a little beaten egg white.
  8. Sprinkle with sugar.
  9. Allow it to harden before using to decorate cake.
