  1. Mix the tomatoes, turmeric and salt and keep aside.
  2. In a deep bowl put the tamarind and top it with the tomatoes mixed with salt.
  3. Keep the bowl in the sunlight for 4 hours.
  4. Now mix well, the sun dried tamarind and tomatoes.
  5. Heat oil in a kadhai and add mustard seeds and asafoetida.
  6. When the seeds crackle pour the tempering on the tamrind-tomato mixture.
  7. Add the sugar and chilli powder and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  8. Cool and store in air tight container.
