Ingredients

1 kg ripe tomatoes
3 onions
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
3 eggs
2 tsp lemon juice
1 coconut, grated
1 tsp saffron (kesar) strands
2 tbsp ghee or oil
Grind masala:
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
¼ vati coconut
7 flakes garlic
12 red chillies
16 peppercorns
Method

  1. Blanch tomatoes in hot water.
  2. Cool, skin and liquidise
  3. Add grated coconut to mixture
  4. Add 1 cup hot water-keep aside.
  5. Fry onions light brown
  6. Add ground masala and roast well.
  7. Gradually add tomato mixture and mix well.
  8. Add 2 tsp sugar and salt.
  9. Close dekchi and let mixture boil.
  10. Add kesar mixture and simmer with lid closed.
  11. Lastly add lemon juice and quartered boiled eggs.
