Suran Bataka Ni Khichdi recipe - How to make Suran Bataka Ni Khichdi

500 gms peeled and grated yam (suran)
2 medium potatoes , peeled and grated
1/8 cup crushed peanuts
1 tsp green chilli paste
salt to taste
2 tsp powdered sugar
2 to 3 drops lemon juice
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
oil for cooking
  1. Combine the potatoes and yam in a deep bowl and mix well.
  2. Add the green chilli paste and salt and mix well. Keep aside.
  3. Heat the oil in non stick pan, add the asafetida and yam and aloo mixture.
  4. Cover and cook on slow flame for 3-4 minutes, while stirring once or twice in between.
  5. Add the peanuts and mix well.
  6. Cover and cook on a slow flame for more 4-5 minutes or till the suran and aloo becomes soft and tender. Stir in between twice or thrice at regular interval.
  7. Add the powdered sugar and lemon juice, mix well.
  8. Serve hot with chapatti or can be eaten alone on fasting days as faral.
