  1. Soak the dal for half an hour and then wash properly.
  2. In a heavy bottomed kadhai add all the ingredients.
  3. Add enough water so that the dal is fully immersed under water and cover the kadhai.
  4. Cook dal on medium flame until cooked.
  5. Tastes best with rice.
