A lovely blend of semolina with sour buttermilk in the Sour Upma recipe makes it a preferred breakfast item. Splutter the mustard seeds and add hing and green chillies to the Upma to impart a spicy touch to the otherwise sour taste.
- Mix buttermilk with semolina and salt.
- Heat oil(preferably sesame oil) in a kadai. when hot add mustard seeds.
- When they splutter, add urad dal, chana dal, pinched red chillies, hing, curryleaves.
- Now pour the buttermilk mixture and keep strirring till thick and leaves the sides of the kadai.
- Serve hot.
