Potato vada is very famous and popular amongst all of us.Here is batata vada with little variation which is made from potato with the combination of peanut paste and the same can be served as faraal on fasting days with curd or with Curd-peanut chutney.

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 servings


For The Vada
1 1/2 cups peanut paste , soaked overnight and ground without water
3-4 boiled and mashed potatoes
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
3/4 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
3/4 tsp green chilli paste
a few curry leaves (kadi patta) , pureed
1 1/4 tsp sugar
salt to taste
oil for deep frying

To Be Mixed Together For The Batter
3/4 cup sama
salt to taste
pinch of baking soda
2 tsp hot ghee
water as required
  1. Combine peanut paste, mashed potatoes, sugar, and other ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Divide the mixture into small balls and shape them well.
  3. Heat the oil in a kadhai and deep fry the vada till they become little golden brown from all the sides.
  4. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  5. Serve hot with curd.
