Shahi Tukrey recipe - How to make Shahi Tukrey

10 to 12 bread slices
1/4 tbsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
1 ltr milk
2 cups sugar
oil for deep frying
  1. In a heavy bottomed pan, pour the milk and heat it gently, stirring continuously.
  2. Add the cardamom powder, mix well and after some time add sugar, mix well and cook for 30 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  3. When the milk colour changes to light yellow, remove from the flame and keep aside to cool.
  4. Meanwhile, cut each bread slice into triangle shaped pieces.
  5. Heat the oil in a kadhai and deep fry these pieces till they turn crisp and golden brown.
  6. Drain and keep aside.
  7. Place these bread pieces on serving plate and pour the prepared milk in top.
  8. Make 2-3 layers of this and refrigerate them for 2 hours.
  9. Serve chilled.
