September-October 2010 Issue
When I cook
There is a prayer in my heart
I talk with my God all the time
And consult Him once in a while
That is why
Every meal is a success
And my Home
A Happy place!
From ‘Kitchen Poems’ by Dhiruben Patel
What a wonderful idea it is to include God in all our culinary efforts and what better time to start than in the festive season! Diwali brings with it a chance to take an exciting break from our busy lifestyles – to revel in this beautiful festival of lights, the rangoli, new clothes, decorations, and most of all, the traditional sweets. Across the country people celebrate the festival with gusto, whether Hindu or otherwise – it’s a time for joyous brotherhood and we at Cooking & more love this time of year
The issue has a lot of other interesting articles, including quick recipes for those with little time to spare; a peek into an incredible ice cream parlour that will have ice cream fans ecstatic; an introduction to regal Nawabi cooking; innovative garnish suggestions; and a 16-year-old who does wonders in the kitchen!
For the health conscious we have ‘Zero Oil’ recipes. Dr. Nupur Krishnan provides an insight into thyroid disorders, and Naini Setalvad shows us how to enjoy the festival and still remain healthy! Our nutritionist offers tips for diabetics, and we have a special feature on how to lose post pregnancy weight with the help of yoga.
As always we have our regular features, which we know you all look forward to. Do continue to send us your feedback. Enjoy reading the issue…and from all of us here at Coking & more, have a Happy and Healthy Diwali!
