Ragi dosas, are calcium rich crispy and tasty savoury crepes. Serve the ragi dosas with a potato stuffing for breakfast or a snack accompanied with chutney.

Ragi Dosas recipe - How to make Ragi Dosas

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 8 dosas

1 cup ragi (nachni / red millet) flour
1 cup semolina (rava)
1/2 cup rice flour (chawal ka atta)
1 cup curds (dahi)
1 cup water
1 large onion , chopped
2-3 finely chopped green chillies
handful of curry leaves (kadi patta) , chopped
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
salt to taste
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp ginger (adrak) paste

Other Ingredients
oil for cooking
  1. Mix all the ingredients in a deep bowl and keep aside for atleast 1 hour. Mix well and if needed add some more water,the batter should be of dropping consistency.
  2. Heat and grease a non-stick tava with oil. Pour a spoonful of batter and spread it in oval or round shape with the back of a spoon. Drizzle some oil around the edges (that will work for the first batch, after 2-3 dosas you don't need to pour in more oil )
  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes till the dosa is crisp and golden in colour. Flip and cook on the other side for a minutes on slow flame.
  4. Serve hot stuffed with a potato filling or enjoy with chutney.
