This Quick Sandwich Recipe is one that has withstood the test of time. For years, it has come to the aid of people who need a quick snack to appease a sudden hunger pang.

It is a popular snack with kids and office-goers, and is sold commonly in canteens and bakeries. It is a wonderful snack to accompany tea, because it is both filling and tasty.

Here, a succulent stuffing of onions and tomatoes perked up with spice powders is sandwiched along with cheese between two buttered bread slices, and cooked on a tava with more butter, till the bread is perfectly crisp and appetizingly golden in colour!

The crispness of the bread and the juiciness of the filling contrast beautifully making this an ever-popular snack.

Ingredients
8 bread slices
4 tsp butter for spreading
2 tsp butter for brushing
2 tsp butter for cooking

To Be Mixed Into A Stuffing
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1/4 cup grated processed cheese
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
salt to taste

For Serving
tomato ketchup
Method
    Method
  1. Divide the stuffing into 4 equal portions.
  2. Place 2 bread slices on a clean, dry surface and spread ½ tsp of butter evenly over each slice.
  3. Place a portion of the stuffing on one buttered bread slice and spread it evenly.
  4. Sandwich it using another bread slice with the buttered side facing downwards and press it lightly.
  5. Brush ½ tsp of butter evenly over it.
  6. Heat a non-stick a tava (griddle), put ½ tsp of butter for cooking and place the sandwich on it with the buttered side facing upwards and cook on a medium flame till it turns golden brown in color from both the sides.
  7. Cut the sandwich diagonally into 2 equal portions.
  8. Repeat steps 2 to 7 to make 3 more sandwiches.
  9. Serve immediately with tomato ketchup.

For the stuffing of Tava sandwich

  1. In a deep bowl, take finely chopped onions.
  2. Now add finely chopped tomatoes.
  3. Then add finely chopped coriander. Since we are making a quick and easy sandwich, we have used minimum veggies. You can add as per availability and your liking.
  4. Furthermore, add grated processed cheese. Mozzarella, cottage cheese and cheddar also work as amazing substitutes.
  5. For seasoning, add chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin seeds powder and salt to taste. Adjust as per your preference.
  6. Mix well and your Tava sandwich stuffing is ready!
  7. Divide the stuffing into 4 equal portions.

How to make quick Veg Tawa sandwich

  1. Place 2 bread slices on a clean, dry surface. We have used white bread. To make this healthy, you can use brown or multi-grain bread slices.
  2. Spread ½ tsp of butter evenly over each slice.
  3. Place a portion of the stuffing on one buttered bread slice and spread it evenly.
  4. Sandwich it using another bread slice with the buttered side facing downwards.
  5. Press it lightly.
  6. Brush ½ tsp of butter evenly over it.
  7. Heat a non-stick a tava (griddle), put ½ tsp of butter for cooking. You can also use ghee to toast the sandwich.
  8. Place the sandwich on it with the buttered side facing upwards and cook on a medium flame till it turns golden brown in color. Cook from both the sides.
  9. Cut the sandwich diagonally into 2 equal portions.
  10. Repeat steps 1 to 9 to make 3 more sandwiches. Serve immediately with tomato ketchup. Also, you can serve with quick dips like the Quick Cheese Dip, Herbed Tomato Dip or Roasted Bell Pepper Dip.

Quick sandwich recipe.. is really quick to make as all the ingredients are readily available in the house.. After making the sandwich.. it tasted so good with simple ingredients.. great for breakfast..
