Bread upma is a delectable and unique upma recipe with soaked bread slices as ingredient. The soaked breads are crushed with hand and cooked with onion, mustard seeds, curry leaves, lime juice and chopped coriander leaves. An excellent breakfast item, bread upma is easy and delicious.

Quick Bread Upma recipe - How to make Quick Bread Upma

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 to 5 servings

4-5 bread slices cut into small pieces
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 cup chopped potatoes
1/4 cup sliced onions
1 chopped green chillies
2 to 3 chopped french beans
1/4 cup sliced capsicum
1/4 cup green peas
1 small chopped tomato
salt to taste
red chilli powder to taste
  1. Heat the oil in the kadahi and add the cumin seeds.
  2. When the seeds crackle, add the onions, tomatoes and potatoes and saute for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients, except the bread, mix well and saute till the vegetables are cooked.
  4. Add the bread pieces and mix well.
  5. Serve hot.
