Puffed Rice Pakoda recipe - How to make Puffed Rice Pakoda

1/4 cup powdered puffed rice
2 tbsp curds (dahi)
1 tbsp roasted and crushed peanuts
1 tbsp sesame seeds (til)
1 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp garam masala
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
a pinch turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
5 to 6 cashewnuts (kaju)
8 to 10 raisins (kismis)
salt to taste
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)

For The Coating
1/2 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
salt to taste
1 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
a pinch baking soda
water as required
1 tsp hot oil

Other Ingredients
oil for deep frying
chaat masala to sprinkle
  1. In a bowl, take coarsely ground puffed rice.
  2. Add curd and mix well.
  3. Add remaining ingredients in it, mix well and make equal size balls from the mixture.
  4. In another bowl, mix all the ingredients except hot oil and make a batter of coating consistency.
  5. Before frying the pakodas, add hot oil to the batter and mix well.
  6. Deep all the balls into the batter and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
  7. Sprinkle chaat masala on all pakodas and serve hot with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
