Potato gratin recipe - How to make Potato gratin

4 small potatoes
3/4cup milk
1/2tsp salt
30g butter
1 clove garlic crushed
1 egg
pepper powder 1 pich
30 gm cheese grated extra butter

  1. Set oven to hot [approx 200 deg.c].
  2. Peel and thinly slice potatoes,place in a saucepan and add milk and salt.
  3. Cover saucepan and simmer over a gentle heat for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  5. Soften butter in a bowl with a fork and work in crushed garlic.
  6. Spread a shallow baking dish with the garlic butter.
  7. Beat egg in a small bowl and add pepper and extra salt to taste and half the cheese.
  8. Drain milk from the potatoes and add the egg mixture.
  9. Mix well.
  10. Spread half the draines potatoes in the buttered baking dish and pour over half the egg mixture.
  11. Top with remaining potatoes and then the egg mixture.
  12. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top and dot with small cubes of butter.
  13. Bake in hot oven for 30 minutes
