You can make the bhajias well in advance since you require cold bhajias for the chaat. so it becomes easier and faster when you want to make the actual chaat.

Ingredients

2 bread slices
oil for frying
Ingredients to make the Potato Bhaji:-
1 large potato, boiled and chopped
1 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1 to 2 green chillies, finely chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
few curry leaves (kadi patta)
salt to taste
Ingredients to make the Besan Batter:-
1 cup besan (Bengal gram flour)
a pinch of soda bi carbonate
water to make the batter
salt to taste
Ingredients For Decoration:-
sweet and sour tamarind chutney
finely chopped onions and coriander (dhania)
1/2 tsp chilli powder
chilli powder and cumin seeds (jeera) powder
sev to top it up at last
Method



first of all make the potato bhaji.

    first of all make the potato bhaji.
  1. In a frying pan, put 1 tbsp oil and when hot put the mustard seeds till they crackle and also put the green chilies and curry patta. then add the boiled and chopped potatoes along with salt and turmeric powder. stir for few minutes and your bhaji is ready. keep this aside and let it cool.

to make the besan batter :

  1. Mix the besan, soda, red chilly powder and salt. don''t make the batter too watery. it should be neither thick nor watery.

  1. Now take one slice of bread.
  2. Then take some potato bhaji and spread it evenly on the bread.
  3. Place the second slice of bread on top of it so as to make a sandwich.
  4. Now cut this sandwich into four pieces.
  5. Then take each piece, dip it in the besan batter and fry till done. (don''t fry very brown). keep this aside and let it cool. you can always fry.
  6. Lastly, place these fried bread bhajiya on a plate and cut each piece into another four pieces.
  7. Then put enough tamarind to soak into them. sprinkle some cumin powder and red chilly powder.
  8. Then put the chopped onions and coriander leaves and lastly top it with sev.
  9. Hope you enjoy the chaat.
