  1. Wash and drain rice and daal.
  2. In a cooker or frying pan fry the cumin seeds in butter/ghee.
  3. Add ginger, black pepper, cashews and hing.
  4. Then add rice and daal, salt to taste and 6 cups water.
  5. Cook in pressure cooker for 10 minutes.
  6. Serve with sambar.
