Podi is a spicy side dish recipe prepared from raw bananas. The podi is typically served in south indian households with steamed rice and ghee.
- Soak the rice in enough water for 20 minutes.
- Drain and blend in a mixer along with red chillies, asafoetida and salt to a smooth paste.
- Cut raw banana into medium circles of 1 cm thickness and coat the raw banana with the ground paste and keep aside for 20 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a pan and shallow fry each pieces till golden brown and crisp.
- Serve hot.
