1/2 cup rice (chawal) , soaked and blended into paste
4 cups milk
4 to 5 crushed cardamom (elaichi)
1/4 tsp saffron (kesar) strands
3/4 cup milk for mixing rice (chawal) paste
150 gms mava (khoya)
1 cup sugar
a few drops of kewra water
chopped mixed nuts for garnishing
  1. Boil 4 cups of water along with kesar and cardamom powder in a deep pan and when it starts boiling, simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Add 1 cup sugar and again cook for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add grated khoya and cook for 3 min.
  4. Meanwhile, combine the rice paste with ¾ cup of milk and keep aside.
  5. Add rice paste to the milk and mix well for 4 minutes.
  6. Cook again for 4-5 minutes or till the mixture becomes thick.
  7. Cool and add kewra water and mix well.
  8. Serve chilled garnished with nuts.
