Palak Dal Kadhi recipe - How to make Palak Dal Kadhi

To Be Mixed and Blended Into A Smooth Apste
1 cup grated coconut
3 green chillies
2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
water as required

Other Ingredients
1 cup chopped spinach (palak)
2 cups moong dal (split green gram)
2 tsp curds (dahi)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste

For The Tempering
2 tsp coconut oil
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 whole dry kashmiri red chilli
4 to 5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
  1. Combine the prepared paste and curds and mix well. Keep aside.
  2. Cook the moong dal and spinach with enough water and turmeric powder in a heavy bottomed vessel till the dal is cooked.
  3. Add the curd mixture and mix well.
  4. Add the salt, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from the flame and keep aside.
  6. For the tempering, heat the coconut oil in a small pan, add the mustard seeds, aesofitida, cumin seeds and curry leaves. When the seeds crackle, pour this tempering to the dal and mix well.
  7. Serve hot.
