Orange Malpoova recipe - How to make Orange Malpoova

For The Sugar Syrup
1 1/2 cups sugar
saffron (kesar) strands few strands

For The Malpuas
1 1/2 ltrs milk
1 cup mava (khoya)
2 tsp orange rind
2 tbsp plain flour (maida)
1 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
ghee for cooking

For The Garnish
fresh orange pieces

  1. Keep two tbsp sugar separate from the measured sugar.
  2. Heat double the quantity of water in a deep pan and when the water starts boiling, add the sugar and mix well.
  3. Cook till the sugar is completely dissolved and the syrup ia made of one string consistency.
  4. Add the saffron strands, mix well and keep aside.

For the malpuas

  1. Heat the milk in a thick bottomed pan on a slow flame and cook till the milk becomes thick.
  2. Add the khoya, mix well, remove form the flame and cool to room temperature.
  3. Add the sugar, cardamom powder, orange zest and the flour, mix well and make a batter of dropping consistency.
  4. Heat a non stick pan, add the ghee and pour a ladleful of the batter and make a pancake (round shape)and cook it on medium heat till both the sides are golden brown in colour.

  1. Immerse the prepared malpuas in the sugar syrup and leave aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Serve hot.
