  1. Boil the spinach in enough water, drain and blend in a mixer to a smooth puree. Keep aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds.
  3. When the seeds crackle, add the ginger and garlic and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the salt, turmeric powder and the spinach puree and saute for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the rice and saute for 3 minutes.
  6. Add enough water, mix well and cover and cook till the rice is cooked.
  7. Serve hot.
