Mustard rice is quite a different rice recipe with coconut and mustard paste added to the boiled rice. Traditionally a part of south indian cuisine, the mustard rice is flavourful and typically enjoyed with garlic podi or rasam.

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 servings

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies.
  2. When the seeds crackle, add the curry leaves and saute for 20 seconds.
  3. Add the ground paste and saute for few seconds.
  4. Add the cooked rice and saute for 5 minutes.
  5. Serve hot.
